As if her 1,500 metres world record of three minutes, 49.04 seconds is not dumbfounding enough, triple Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon embarks on another impossible journey – breaking the four-minute mile barrier.
A journey to the moon.
The women’s mile record currently stands at an astonishing 4.07.64, held by none other than Kipyegon herself.
She set this towering standard on July 21, 2023, at the Stade Louis II in Monaco.
For her, even this incredible standard now seems jaded. And in dire need of polishing up.
Not just polishing up but taking it to heights out of reach of ordinary mortals.
Kipyegon plans to shatter the limits of women’s mile racing.
She plans to make history by tearing down the four minute barrier in Paris on June 26.

The thought alone is mind boggling. Let alone the record in prospect. Kipyegon has been there before. She is a woman of many firsts. She possesses a lion’s heart. Let alone a lioness’.
To achieve this, she will have to shave off nearly eight seconds from the existing standard…It’s a moonshot.
But Kipyegon has the guts, the faith and the fire.
She made history in shattering the four minute barrier in the 1,500m in the beautiful city of Florence on June 2, 2023.
A separate story on this astonishing feat is to follow.
Paris holds great promise for Kipyegon. She set the current 5,000m world record there last year.
At exactly the same site where she will attempt what is seemingly impossible, at the Stade de Charletey.
Paris, “The City of Love” is calling out her name with arms spread wide to celebrate with her what is, potentially an unbelievable feat on June 26.
Kipyegon, the shooting star first launched in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz in 2011.
A separate story on this memorable launch is to follow.
We wish her and her Coach Patrick Sang well as they plan and prepare for the historic blast off.
