The football world is in shock following news breaking of the death of Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota in a car crash in the early hours of Thursday.

A statement from local security forces, Guarda Civil, confirmed that the 28-year-old star and his brother André Silva were killed when their Lamborghini’s tyre burst as they were overtaking with the car bursting into flames.

“The information we have so far is that the car, which was a Lamborghini, was in a road traffic accident and left the road due to a tyre blowout while overtaking,” Guarda Civil announced.
