The MTN Elite One, Cameroon’s top-tier league was launched last weekend – after a seven-month break – by Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) President Samuel Eto’o with Unisport Bafang losing 0-2 to Aigle Royal in the opening match at the Bafang Municipal Stadium.
Also present were Fred Siewe, Director for Growth Market and Africa Relations at Swiss sportswear firm FOURTEEN, also Vice-President of Unisport Bafang; Cameroon West Region Governor Awa Fonka Augustine and businessman Emmanuel Neossi, a top investor in the national cocoa industry and founder and CEO of Neo Industry.
This year, the MTN Elite One League is being played in a single pool of 14 teams with the teams playing each other twice on a home and away basis.
