Sunday’s (March 8) Mozzart Bet Cup match between Pura Vida Sports Africa-sponsored Kuta Collections FC and Kenya School of Government’s Ogopa FC, initially scheduled for the Nyayo National Stadium, has now been shifted to the Kasarani Annex ground.
The match kicks off at 3:30pm after another round of 32 match between hosts Kariobangi Sharks and K.U. Hardnuts FC.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) announced on Saturday that the match had been moved owing to the fact that Sports Kenya maintained they could not allow a double-header to be played at the Nyayo National Stadium owing to pitch recovery concerns.
Kuta Collections is a non-league side backed by Pura Vida Sports Africa and whose aim is to offer a platform for unattached and young players alike to showcase their talent and keep their career afloat.
Kuta Collections FC don’t have a training ground and have been relying on support from well-wishers, Pura Vida Sports Africa and also player-coach Augustine Mtiang’a Kuta, the brains behind the team.
Kuta runs the Kuta Collections store (call text or WhatsApp 0715251994), that deals in the supply of football boots, uniforms and equipment and delivers such equipment free-of-charge within Nairobi and at a cost via parcel countrywide within 24 hours.
They are located in Nairobi within Dubai Merchant Mall, Shop F38, along Ronald Ngala Street, next to Best Lady and opposite RNG Plaza.
“We received the communication on the change of match venue and time from the FKF but we have no problem with that as football is about adjusting and delivering even in the most difficult of circumstances. Our players are well psyched up for the match and we appeal to fans to turn up at Kasarani at 3pm to cheer our team,” Pura Vida Sports Africa’s Founder and Managing Editor, Elias Makori, remarked.
Kuta Collections endured post-match penalties to record victory over hosts Al-Azizia FC of Meru in the Mozzart Bet Cup Round of 64 match at the Kinoru Stadium on February 11.
The match ended in a 2-2 stalemate before Kuta Collections won the spot kicks.
“Since the last game against Al-Azizia, we have had a series of build-up matches to work on our strengths and help the team gel better, and on a positive note, we have been scoring more than two goals and working on conceding less,” Kuta commented ahead of Sunday’s match.
